When the time arrived for Nissan to investigate roofing options for their Canadian Headquarters in Mississauga, they turned to us. Their 145,000 square foot roof had reached the end of its service life and had several issues with leaks. It most certainly needed replacing. We removed 2.1 million pounds (1,050 tons) of stone from the surface of the roof, cleaned it thoroughly and discarded it safely as clean fill. Because the client had not chosen replacing his tar and gravel roof with another one, we were able with this procedure alone to prevent 300,000 lbs (150 tons) of toxic waste from ending up in a landfill. We saved the existing insulation and added a second layer on top to increase the energy efficiency and overall R-Value.
By choosing Eco-Tech to create an entirely sustainable building envelope, Nissan will now save at least $15,000 per year in electricity consumption alone. Cooling costs will be cut by 1/3 and air conditioning units within the building will last much longer due to the reduction in workload. Not only have energy costs been drastically reduced, but alsotheir entire building envelope now provides a safer workplace protected from the harsh effects the elements will unleash over time.
